2015 Common Activity "See Beyond Borders"
See Beyond Borders utilizes the power of video and the creativity of BRIDGE CLUB members to share unique cultures and traditions from all around the world. BRIDGE CLUBs will make short video documentaries about different aspects of their country’s culture and share these through the APCC Facebook page. Through this project, we hope to spread the OMOIYARI spirit worldwide and strengthen our network of global citizens.
GUIDELINES
1. BRIDGE CLUBs will make TWO video documentaries (3-5 minutes in length)—each documentary will feature one of the following topics:
• Food
• Music/Dance/Art
• Cultural Heritage Sites/Architecture
• Cultural Dress
• Cultural/Religious Festivals
• Language
• Sports
• Peace Building/Interfaith Harmony
2. All videos should uniformly start with a short introduction (30 seconds maximum) of the BRIDGE CLUB and end with the BRIDGE CLUB members saying “WE ARE THE BRIDGE.” You can choose whether or not to add credits to the end of the videos.
3. At least 5 BC members must be present in each video – engaging recent JAs is encouraged!
4. BCs are challenged to find creative ways to showcase their topic; they may take a field trip, organize an activity, conduct interviews, go on a “video-walk”, etc.
5. The videos must be original and cannot be taken from the Internet. Do not use copyrighted background music, as Facebook will not allow videos with copyrighted songs to be posted.
6. BCs may use digital cameras, camcorders, or their cell phones to capture footage, and can edit their videos with any available software–Movie Maker (Windows) and iMovie (MAC) are simple and free.
7. Videos can be submitted to seebeyondborders2015@gmail.com using Dropbox or Google Drive, and should be in either .MP4 or .AVI file formats.
8. Submissions must include a short description of the video including the names of the BRIDGE CLUB members involved in the video production. Please indicate if you do not want the video to be judged.
